Team CWM Wins Big At The 15th Annual AutoTrader Retailer Awards

CROMPTON WAY MOTORS BEATS 13,500 RIVALS TO RECEIVE NATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR EXCELLENCE

Local car retailer wins big at the 15th annual Auto Trader Retailer Awards

Thursday 13th October 2022 – Crompton Way Motors has been presented the Retailer of the Year award for small retailers at the national Auto Trader Retailer Awards 2022.

Based in Bolton & Greater Manchester, Crompton Way Motors has beaten competition from circa 13,500 UK automotive retailers to receive the Retailer of the Year award for retailers with under 50 in-stock vehicles at the 15th annual Auto Trader Retailer Awards. The Retailer of the Year award is the highest accolade at the Auto Trader Retailer Awards. It is awarded to those who demonstrate the very best practices in retail and consistently deliver top-quality customer experience across the entire car buying journey, from their online adverts to customer communication. The award was judged by an independent panel of experts, including senior executives from Google, and global strategy consultants, OC&C Strategy, as well sustainability specialists, The Carbon Literacy Project.

Now in its 15th year, the Auto Trader Retailer Awards celebrate the very best in automotive retailing; those brands that are pushing the standard of all aspects of the industry, including digital retailing, and a commitment to exceptional customer service.

This year, circa 13,500 of Auto Trader’s retailer partners were shortlisted to just 48 finalists split across seven different award categories, of which just 16 were crowned winners, determined by a combination of in-depth analysis of millions of data points, independent judging by a panel of experts, and the results from the UK’s largest consumer mystery shopping programme among auto retailers. Accordingly, the winners are among the top 0.1% of Auto Trader’s retailer partners and are rightly considered the best of the best.

The ceremony took place at London’s iconic 8 Northumberland, just off Trafalgar Square, and marks the first in-person Retailer Awards ceremony since 2019. It was hosted by Auto Trader Sales Directors Rebecca Clark and Darren Moon, alongside Auto Trader’s YouTube Director and former Top Gear presenter, Rory Reid.

Commenting on this year’s winner, Auto Trader’s Chief Executive Officer, Nathan Coe,said:The automotive market has been a rollercoaster over the last few years, and retailers have had to adapt quickly.  The way people look for their next car, the way they buy it, the way they pay for it, and even the cars they want to buy have all changed. Arguably digital retailing services and the continued roll out of electric vehicles have been the biggest changes that retailers have needed to respond to and I have been astounded at how agile and adaptable retailers of all sizes have been in response. I’d like to personally congratulate all this year’s winners for all they have achieved.”

The Innovation Award recognises those retailers who’ve successfully implemented an innovation that’s bettered their business in the last year.

The People and Culture Award is designed to recognise retailers that put their people first and have made significant efforts to create a dynamic, open and diverse workplace.

The Rising Star Award is for those retailers in business less than 3 years who have already made a significant impact in automotive retail, despite being relatively new to the industry.

The Sustainability Initiative Award recognises retailers who are making significant efforts to combat climate change within their business.

Data driven awards

Our data driven awards employ a combination of data analysis and an independently run mystery shopping. We analyse retailers' performance on our marketplace, their review performance, advert quality and features to determine the best performing retailers. The top 1000 retailers are also entered into our mystery shopping programme which, over the course of 6 months, comprehensively assesses the customer experience retailers are delivering.

The Customer Choice Award is determined following analysis of retailers’ customer reviews on the Auto Trader website. The award was based on the number of reviews, responses to reviews and overall review score with the winners scoring top across every metric.

The Customer Experience Award winners were determined by the UK’s largest automotive mystery shopping exercise; an in-depth analysis of customer engagement across a variety of digital touchpoints including email, phone and online messaging.

The Retailer of the Year Award is the highest accolade at the Auto Trader Retailer Awards. It is awarded to those who demonstrate the very best practices in retail and consistently deliver top-quality customer experience across the entire car buying journey, from their online adverts to customer communication.
